St. Kate's goes undefeated at home tournament

Wildcats fans were treated to an enjoyable weekend of volleyball at their home court as St. Kate's hosted the first annual St. Kate's Invite, espeically as they got to watch their home team go 4-0 on the weekend.  By defeating Bethany Lutheran 3-0 and Luther 3-1 the Wildcats move to 8-1 on the season.  

In their first match of the day, the Wildcats dominated Bethany Lutheran, sweeping them 3-0 by scores of 25-19, 25-15, 25-20.  Returning to the court against Luther after a short break, the Wildcats were tested against the Norse, who were also 3-0 on the weekend heading into the match.  The teams split the first two sets before St. Kate's squeezed out narrow victories in the third and fourth sets to take the match 25-22, 20-25, 25-22, 25-23. 

The Wildcats used a balanced offensive attack to defeat Luther, as five players reached double figures in kills.  Stephanie Meschke had a breakout day offensively, with 20 kills and 15 digs over the two matches.  Kelsey Wirtanen also turned in a strong performance, with 11 kills and 18 digs against Luther.  The Wildcats had 15 aces over the two matches as a team.
