Despite shooting 50% from the field in the first half, the Wildcats found themselves down 31-40 at the break. In the second half, SCU's shooting cooled down, but they were able to hang around until the last four minutes when Gustavus pulled away for the win.
Turnover's were an issue all night for St. Kate's, giving up 21 for the game to Gustavus' seven.
St. Kate's was led by
Sonja Ellingson,
Laura Kalbfell, and
Megan Zillmer. Each put up 17 points on the night. Laura pulled down a game high eight boards, while
Quinn Halverson grabbed six and Sonja and Megan added five rebounds apiece.
Gustavus had two players who scored 18, Molly Geske and Molly Mathiowetz. Geske had a game high four steals as well.
The Wildcats are back on the court Saturday, Feb. 12 at St. Olaf.
