Saturday afternoon's sunny, summer-like weather laid the perfect backdrop to the Wildcat soccer team as they honored their parents and families for all the support received this season and through their careers. With plenty of fans on hand to enjoy the warm temperatures and festive atmosphere, the Wildcats and Blazers put on an entertaining, back-and-forth game. St. Ben's emerged with a 4-1 win.
St. Ben's went on the attack first, but the Wildcat defense stepped up big in the first half. With 16 shots by the Blazers in the half, the Wildcats kept turning them away. The Blazers finally broke through just before halftime as Katherine Rogosheke score 40 minutes into the game. One goal quickly led to another, with Ali O'Brien finding the back of the net just a minute later.
Down 2-0, the Wildcats offense came out fired up for the second half. They took their first corner kick of the game and made it count. Bri Coulter served up a perfect ball that
Abby McGurran-Hanson directed into the net to cut the defecit in half. St. Ben's soon increased their lead back to two, as Colleen Bouchard scored several minutes later, and the Wildcats could not close the gap from there. The Blazers added a late goal to make the final tally 4-1.
