The Wildcats headed across town Friday evening to take on one of the top teams in the MIAC, Bethel. The surprising Royals continued their hot streak this year, defeating the Wildcats in straight sets to move to 7-1 in the conference. St. Kate's fell to 3-6 in the MIAC with the loss, and 17-10 overall.
The Wildcats headed in to the match with plenty of optimism, coming off a big win over St. Olaf and having taking the Royals to a five-set match earlier in the season. The Wildcats were in every set, but couldn't quite break through to take a game, falling 22-25, 22-25, 23-25. The Wildcats featured a balanced offensive attack, with
Stephanie Meschke and
Kelsey Wirtanen both compiling 10 kills.
Brittni Wangerin added nine kills and
Kayla Sis had eight.
Callie Teigen had 15 digs.
