In a game against crosstown rival Augsburg, the Wildcats played one of their best games of the year start to finish, but came out on the losing end despite their effort, as Augsburg came up with a 1-0 win. Playing under the lights on a cool Wednesday evening, Bri Clark's goal was the only one to slip by either keeper. The Auggies improve to 8-6-1, while the Wildcats are 1-14.
While the final score was only 1-0, there was plenty of offensive chances in the game. With the entire Wildcat team putting forth one of their best efforts of the year, it was their defense that faced the toughest test. The Auggies had 25 shots in the game and 13 corner kicks, but the defense and keeper
Abbey Hinton were able to turn all but one away. In the first half, Augsburg at one point had three corners in a row, but were unable to score on any, or any other shots in that half, heading into halftime 0-0.
The Auggies finally broke the scoreless tie in the 58th minute, as Lindsay Niederhaus fed Clark for a lofting goal that floated into the net.
Lyndsey Voss keyed the Wildcat attack with two shots on goal.
The Wildcats host an alumni game on Saturday at 1 pm, before hosting their final home game of the year on Wednesday, October 26th at 3:30 pm.
