On the opening day of their 2010 season, the Wildcats put forth a solid effort in both matches but fell in both contests.  St. Kate's came up just short against Luther, losing 25-14, 19-25, 18-25, 25-18, 11-15.  In the second match, the Wildcats fell to St. Scholastica 25-22, 22-25, 21-25, 18-25. 
The Wildcats jumped out to a quick lead versus Luther, taking the first set easily 25-14.  After dropping two close sets, the team rallied to force a deciding fifth set, but fell just short.  Leading the way were juniors Kayla Sis and Callie Teigen.  Teigen contributed 15 kills and 11 digs, and Sis added 11 kills and 12 digs.  Nicole Neumann added 33 digs. 
Looking to bounce back in their second game, the Wildcats again jumped out to the lead, winning the opening set 25-22.  They stayed close for the next two sets, but after a long day of volleyball, they were unable to rally in the fourth set.  Sis had a team high 15 kills and 12 digs and Megan Ahlbrecht contributed 14 kills.  Teigen added 12 kills and a team high 21 digs. 
The team looks to bounce back on Saturday morning, as they play Loras College at 10 am.
