Playing in front of their home crowd for the first time in 2010, the Wildcats entered conference play with a decisive 3-0 win over the Carleton College Knights. The Wildcats earned the straight set victory by a score of 25-18, 25-22, and 25-23. With the win, St. Kate's is now 3-7 overall, 1-0 in the MIAC. Carleton falls to 2-6, 0-1 in the MIAC.

Corey Phelps home coaching debut, the Wildcats came out with energy and kept up their level of play for the duration of the match. Carleton hung tough, refusing to let the Wildcats get more than a few points ahead, but when they needed a big point, the Wildcats stepped up and delivered. As a team, the Wildcats had nine service aces, their most from any match this season.
Megan Ahlbrecht led the offensive attack with nine kills and three aces, with
Brittni Wangerin (7 kills, 3 aces, 12 digs) and Marie O'Neil (8 kills) right behind her. Setter
Nina Lindquist returned from an ankle injury to add 33 set assists and
Nicole Neumann continued her devensive tear with 21 digs.
The Wildcats will try to build off the momentum from this win at the St. Ben's tournament on Friday and Saturday September 17-18, where they will face several conference opponents in non-conference action.
