After stormy weather delayed the start of Saturday's match against Gustavus, the Wildcats and Gusties eventually took the field in what turned out to be an extremely close game. Liz Underwood scored the game's only goal for Gustavus. With the loss, the Wildcats are now 2-4 in the conference and 6-5-1 overall. Gustavus sits at 5-7 overall and 1-5 in MIAC play.
With wet conditions slowing down the Wildcats speedy attack, the team was unable to settle into their offensive rhythm. In the most closely contested game of the season, the Wildcats held a slight advantage in shots, 12-9, and both teams had 6 corner kicks. The Wildcats were unable to capitalize on any of their offensvie opportunites, with only three of their shots on goal. Underwood's goal with just three minutes left in the first half was enough to put the Gusties ahead. Wildcat keeper
Chelsea Jones-Thomas had 5 saves and Chelsea Bayer saved three shots for the Gusties.
The Wildcats return home on Sunday to face University of Wisconsin Stout in a non-conference game at 1 pm.
