Mel Gerten has been named Wildcat Athlete-of-the Week. Gerten allowed just two goals to #8 ranked Gustavus over 125 minutes.  Her performance helped the Wildcats score a win and a tie. Taking three of a possible four points from the Gusties for the first time in school history.

Friday, SCU upset their ranked foes at home 2-1 behind a strong performance from Gerten. She made 38 saves and allowed a single goal in 60 minutes of ice time.

She was spectacular again Saturday in a 1-1 tie with the Gusties on the road. Gerten stopped 29 shots and again allowed just a single goal to Gustavus in 65 minutes of action.

For the weekend, she made 67 saves on 69 shots. This season, Gerten ranks in the top seven in the MIAC in all three major statistical categories. She’s fourth in win percentage (.571), fifth in goals against average (1.98) and seventh in save percentage (.917) with a 7-5-2 record in net.
