Erin Tebben is one of four St. Catherine University students and alumni who have reached the semi-finalist stage of the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. If selected, she intends to teach English in Loas. The Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) program places grantees in schools overseas to supplement local English language instruction and to provide a native speaker presence in the classrooms. Seven St. Kate's students and alum applied for the Fulbright program this year, making it the most competitive round in the program's 75 years. This year's application process was made even more challenging due to the pandemic. In her time at St. Kate's, Tebben has served as a teaching assistant in an ESL classroom of immigrant and international students from Somalia, Kenya, Mexico, Ecuador, France, Vietnam, Laos and many other countries. Tebben has also volunteered at CLUES, as non-profit serving Spanish speaking families in Minneapolis.
