Sophomore basketball student-athlete, Mary Claire Francois, for her service, leadership and outstanding work over the summer months and into the fall in her community. The Minneapolis resident sprung to action in a time of need providing countless hours of support in the wake of the George Floyd tragedy that happened close to her neighborhood. Francois indicated the collection of over $20,000 to be used for those affected. She also co-founded an organization called “The Real Minneapolis” which is focused on providing assistance and resources to families in Minneapolis as they navigate the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and civil unrest. To go along with her role as the Director of Youth Leadership at the Real Minneapolis, she created an opportunity for middle and high school students in South Minneapolis called the Hope Youth Center.
