The College of St. Catherine athletic department is pleased to announce that Abby Beytien-Carlson (Sr., Hastings, Minn.) and Jamie Weber (Sr., Benson, Minn.) have been named Athletes of the Week.
Both Beytien-Carlson and Weber finished up their careers with singles win in the Wildcats’ season-ending 5-4 win over St. Olaf. At #3 singles Weber defeated Sarah Carlson 4-6, 6-4, 10-7. Beytien-Carlson closed out her career with a win at #4 over Sarah Magnuson 6-4, 6-7 (5), 10-7.
Both players played steadily throughout the season and helped the Wildcats both on and off the court on the way to a 9-9 overall record.
“Abby and Jamie's wins against St. Olaf summed up their season. It was great to see both seniors step up and win the deciding matches in the victory over St. Olaf,” stated Wildcat assistant coach Ben Hageseth. “Their outstanding performances were a culmination of a season of hard-work, focus, and a dedication to intensely competing from the first point to the last,” added Hageseth.
