Sophomore golfer Clara Godoy-Henderson has had a busy fall despite being injured and unable to compete on the course. Suffering a stress fracture in her back over the summer, Godoy-Henderson wasted no-time finding other ways to contribute to her team and the university as a whole. She dedicates her limited time to several different clubs and initiatives that are happening around campus.

This fall, she was selected as the Celeste Dream intern, which is a social justice position connecting the Sisters of St. Joseph and the St. Catherine community. She is primarily focused on the St. Kate’s food shelf and heads several sustainability initiatives around campus. As part of her work with the food shelf, Godoy-Henderson is constantly fundraising and applying for grants to sustain the center and help students in need. She recently hosted a Friendsgiving meal for over 100 students on campus providing a free hot meal to students with help from several clubs and athletic teams. As part of the internship, she also presents weekly to different groups on campus to educate individuals with food insecurities.
As a leader on campus focused on the entire university’s sustainability efforts, Godoy-Henderson has organized tours of other conference schools and provides guidance for clubs and individuals who are seeking to improve their current practices. In just her second year at St. Catherine, she is already the co-president of the NEXSS Club (Nutrition and Exercise/ Sport Science) and is currently bagging and selling organic herbal tea from the St. Catherine community gardens to fundraise for the Exercise in Medicine initiative.  Lastly, she is the treasurer of the Food Justice Coalition working closely with the community gardens and submitted a proposal to campus dining to grow food in the community garden for students to purchase on campus. She has also been working towards getting a greenhouse approved for campus to provide more opportunity for the community gardens.

Aside from all of her responsibilities outside of athletics, she still found the time to be supportive of her team. She played a vital role in running the Wildcats home tournament in the fall, has helped with hosting recruits and also organizing team events in the off-season.
