Sophomore All-American swimmer, Macy Klein spent her summer at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama as a part of the United State Air Force ROTC program to complete her Field Training. Her training was a two week long program that entails six different encampments that involves cadets receiving an overall ranking. Cadets who graduate within the top 10 percent of their encampment, as identified by their performance report, are designated as distinguished graduates. This ranking is based on a cadets overall FT performance and is derived from many inputs such as the fitness assessment, various leadership evaluations, knowledge of the Air Force, potential as an Air Force Officer and other evaluation points. Klein was honored as the top-cadet in her encampment out of 18 in her flight. Out of the 483 cadets at the flight training, Klein earned the honor of Distinguished Graduate with an overall ranking of 23rd and earned the recommendation to return the following summer as a cadet trainer. Aside from balancing the rigorous requirements of being part of the ROTC program, Klein still finds the time to balance being a Division III student-athlete. This is Klein’s fourth Fleur-de-lis Award of her career and first of the year.
