Alexis Garcia (Basketball): Garcia is the second-straight basketball player to earn Fleur-de-lis honors, thanks to her outstanding athletic performances and displays of leadership. Since returning for the second half of the season, Garcia has averaged 16.3 points per game and has led St. Kate’s in scoring in five of the team’s six games since winter break. On January 3, she led the Wildcats to their second Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) win of the year, as St. Kate’s stunned Saint Mary’s University 63-59 behind Garcia’s then career-high 26 point performance. Garcia’s best performance, though, came a week later in the Wildcats January 13 loss to Hamline. The senior scored a new career-high 32 points in the loss, which is tied for third all-time for most points scored in a single game in St. Kate’s history. She was named the MIAC Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week on January 8.
Laken Muller (Hockey): Muller garnered her first Fleur-de-lis honor after an outstanding athletic performance in the Wildcats MIAC sweep of St. Olaf January 12-13. The junior forward led St. Kate’s in scoring in what proved to be the team’s most explosive offensive performance of the season. Muller tallied five points with two goals and three assists over the weekend and scored the game winner in the Wildcats 5-3 win over the Oles on Friday. She also had a hand in two of St. Kate’s six goals in Saturday’s 6-2 win in Northfield. So far this season, Muller leads the team in goals (6) and points (10) and is tied for the lead in assists (4). She was named the MIAC Women's Hockey Athlete-of-the-Week on January 15.Â
