ST. PAUL, MINN. – The St. Catherine University track and field team was firing on all cylinders this weekend at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls track and field invite. The team won the Falcon Invite at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls with an overall team score of 127, thanks to multiple personal records (PRs) and first place finishes from multiple student-athletes. One of those athletes was none other than Megan Pohlmann (Grey Eagle, Minn. / Long Prairie-Grey Eagle), who has been named Wildcat Athlete of the Week.
All season long, Pohlmann has been one of the team’s top performers in weight throw, but her performance on Saturday was a personal best. In a field that featured 19 throwers from Division III institutions, Pohlmann was the best, winning the event with a personal best throw of 14.47 meters.
However, Pohlmann didn’t just win the weight throw event and crush her PR in the process. She also found her way on St. Kate’s top-10 list in the event. After Saturday, Pohlmann is now second all-time at St. Kate’s in the event and currently holds the No. 3 distance in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) this season.
Pohlmann and the Wildcats will return to action this Saturday when they compete at the Bethel Invitational at Bethel University.
