First year student-athlete Kaylee Schmit has been named the Wildcat Athlete of the Week for the week of September 29.
Schmit has been the starting goalkeeper for the St. Kate's soccer team all season, and continued her steady play last week. In the Wildcats three games Schmit saw 41 shots come at her, she made 15 saves and allowed only four goals. She helped the Wildcats finish 1-2 on the week, including a 4-1 victory over Buena Vista and hard fought 1-0 loss to defending MIAC champion Concordia.
In the Wildcats ten games this season Schmit has 47 saves and four shutouts, both of which place her third in the entire MIAC conference in those categories.
Schmit has helped St. Kate's get off to a 5-4-1 start. The Wildcats five wins already equals their win total from last season, and is only two behind the most ever in the soccer programs brief eight year history.
Kaylee, a nursing major at St. Kate's, is the daughter of Dan and Deanne Schmit
