For the entire indoor season thus far in 2015, the St. Catherine University track and field teams have seen a new school record set almost every weekend. And at the Wildcats' final competition before the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Championships, Brittany Moore (Maplewood, Minn./North St. Paul) was the one to take back a school record and lead the Wildcats. For her performance, she has been named the Wildcat Athlete of the Week.Â
Just two weeks ago, Moore saw her school record in the 60-meter hurdles when teammate Shakeela Wells-Johnson (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) ran .01 seconds faster at 9.26 to take over the all-time spot at St. Kate's. However, that didn't last long as Moore took back her record when she ran a 9.19 in the prelim heat of the 60-meter hurdles at the Macalester College Kilt Classic Friday evening. Her time was not only a personal record (PR), but was the fastest time in the prelims.Â
In the finals, Moore ran a 9.25 to finish second behind Carolyn Saulberry of Hamline University – her time was 9.16 and the fastest in the MIAC this season. Moore's 9.19 record from prelims is currently the second-fastest in the MIAC heading into the conference meet.Â
Not only did Moore have a solid individual performance, but she ran the opening lap of the Wildcats' 4 x 200-meter relay that placed third in the event with a time of 1:49.36 that now ranks No. 6 all-time at St. Kate's.Â
In addition to her hurdle time, Moore ranks 10th in the MIAC for the long jump and 16th in the 60-meter dash. She and the rest of the Wildcats will compete at the MIAC Championships beginning at 2 p.m. Friday at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. Events are slated to begin at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday. Additional meet information can be found of the
championships site.Â
