With just one weekend left in the 2014-15 season, the St. Catherine University hockey team has come to life and still has a shot at qualifying for the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) postseason. Thanks to two solids performances in goal from Abbi White (Wyoming, Minn./Forest Lake), the Wildcats picked up their first conference sweep of the year with two victories over St. Olaf College. For her efforts, White has been named the Wildcat Athlete of the Week for the second time this year.Â
Friday night, White stopped all 15 shots that came her way from the Oles to post her third shutout of the season and her collegiate career. The Wildcats pulled off a 3-0 win on the road against the Oles, before playing host to them the next day where the Wildcats erupted for a 5-2 win. White was again solid allowing just two goals on 32 shots making 30 total saves for 45 on the weekend.Â
With the victories, Whie moves to 4-3-4 on the season with her .545 win percentage ranking third among all MIAC goaltenders. This season, White's .935 save percentage ranks first in the MIAC and second in all of Division III, while her 1.24 goals against average ranks second in the league and seventh in the nation. She has compiled 282 saves and allowed just 14 goals in her 11 starts as a sophomore.Â
White and the rest of the Wildcats will hope for a home weekend sweep of Concordia Colelge to keep their playoff hopes alive. Friday's game is slated for 7 p.m. at Drake Arena, while Saturday will be a 2 p.m. start for the final regular season home game of the year.Â
