In Head Coach Michele Edlin's first season with the St. Catherine University golf team, her squad has performed remarkably well showing improvement each week. For the team's final weekend of play before the conference tournament, Edlin couldn't have asked for anything better as her Wildcats' carded a program-best two-round score of 650 (+74) to finish third at the College of Saint Benedict Blazer Invite. Leading the way was sophomore Madi Roe (Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) who has earned  Wildcat Athlete of the Week honors for her effort.Â
On the opening day of play, Roe carded a 78 (+6) for the fifth-lowest score among the field of 55 competitors to lead the Wildcat to the third lowest round in program history with a 325 (+37). Her round was a career-best and the third best single round score for the Wildcats. She had the third-lowest score among all Division III players at the tournament that day.Â
Roe followed up her day one performance with a score of 82 (+10) Sunday to finish the tournament in seventh overall. Her two-day total of 160 (+16) is the lowest in program history and a career-best for the sophomore. Roe was the fourth-best Division III golfer over the two-day period of the tournament.Â
With her spectacular performance this weekend, Roe now has two top-10 tournament finishes this season and leads the Wildcats with an impressive 82.63 strokes per round average. Her average is also 18th-best in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) this season.
Roe and the rest of the Wildcats will take a week off of competition before taking part in the MIAC Championships Saturday-Monday, Oct. 4-6, at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. All tournament information can be found on the
