Alyssa Luedtke (Spring Lake Park, Minn.) has been nothing but impressive throughout her four years with the St. Catherine University softball team. The three-time Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) all-conference selction has already set multiple school records including the career record for hits at the end of last season.And after leading the Wildcats offensively to a 3-5 mark in conference play this week, Luedtke is now the proud owner of the school record for career runs. For her spectacular week, Luedtke has been named the Wildcat Athlete of the Week.
Luedtke's record-setting performance came Friday in the Wildcats' losses to St. Olaf College when she surpassed Jessica Kniefel's record 92 with a run scored in each game to bring her career total to 93. She finished the week with a team best six runs in eight games.
Additonal highlights for Luedtke came in the series against Hamline when the center fielder picked up five hits in eight at bats and scored three runs. In the Wildcats' 3-2 in the night cap, Luedtke scored the opening run of the game. She then picked up her first double of the season in the top of the fifth before coming home for the game-deciding third Wildcat run.
Luedtke led the Wildcats on the week with a .407 average and .44 slugging percentage. She totaled 11 hits, six runs, three RBI, three walks, 10 put outs and no errors. This season, Leudtke is tied for first on the team with 22 hits and lead the team with 13 runs and five stolen bases. The senior has also been flawless in the field with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.
Luedtke and the Wildcats are scheduled to take on Saint Mary's University tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. for a MIAC doubleheader in Winona, Minn.
