After a solid indoor season for the St. Catherine University track and field team, Jorden Priebe (Indianola, Iowa) couldn't have asked for a better start to the outdoor season on a hot and humid 90-degree day at the Trinity University Tiger Relays in San Antonio, Texas. The senior turned in a St. Kate's top-10 performance to be named the Wildcat Athlete of the Week.
Priebe – who had a break out performance to earn honorable mention honors last spring at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) OUtdoor Championships – showed she hasn't missed a beat since last season as she placed third in the hammer throw with an impressive mark of 44.24 meters. Her throw remains No. 3 all-time at St. Kate's and was a new personal record (PR) for Priebe who finished behind competitors whose throw now rank in the top-20 in all of Division III.
With her throw, Priebe has the top mark of the early MIAC season in the hammer throw by over three meters. Her mark is also 34th among all individuals in Division III for the hammer throw.
Priebe and the rest of the Wildcats are scheduled for their first outdoor competition against MIAC opponents at the Carleton College Invitational Saturday in Northfield, Minn., with events slated to begin at 10 a.m.
