The St. Catherine University track and field team has seen great improvement in the 2014 indoor season from a year ago thanks in large part to strong performances in the sprinting events from several athletes. This week, Brittany Moore (Maplewood, Minn.) takes the spotlight for her record-breaking performance in the 60-meter hurdles at the Macalester Colelge Pre-MIAC Meet Friday to earn her first ever Wildcat Athlete of the Week honor. 

Moore has kicked off her sophomore campaign as a Wildcat with several personal record (PR) performances, but none has been a bigger highlight than setting a new school record time of 9.31 in th 60-meter hurdles to qualify for the finals in the event Friday. She then ran a 9.34 in the finals to finish second overall in the event. Moore's time passed the previous record time of 9.41 set by Sarah Meissner in 2007. 

Heading into the MIAC Indoor Championships this weekend, Moore's record time ranks No. 8 in the MIAC this season. e also holds the 12th fastest time in the 60-meter dash (8.12) and ranks in the top-20 in the 200-meter dash (27.23). Her 60- and 200-meter times also both rank in the top-5 all-time at St. Catherine. 

Moore and the rest of the Wildcats will compete at the MIAC meet beginning with pentathlon events Thursday and the rest of the events Friday (4 p.m.) and Saturday (12 p.m.). All meet information can be found on the MIAC Championships site.
