In her first week as a starter for the St. Catherine University basketball team, first-year player LaShay Holt (Minneapolis, Minn.) had a career performance that has put her among the top players in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC). For her efforts, Holt has been named the Wildcat Athlete of the Week.

Despite a less than stellar outing by the Wildcats this week, Holt helped the Wildcats keep Saint Mary's University close through the first 20 minutes Wednesday evening with 10 points in the first half. She finished the game with a career-best 18 points to lead the Wildcats in scoring. Holt also had a team-high three steals and added five rebounds.

In Saturday's tough road loss to Concorida, Holt again led the Wildcats' in multiple categories. She had a game-high 13 points and seven rebounds. She also had a team-high two steals and two assists and was the only Wildcat to reach double digits in scoring in both contests this week.

Prior to assuming a starting role, Holt was the top non-starter in the league in rebounding and was in the top three in scoring. Now, her 10.8 points per game ranks in the top 20 in the MIAC. Her impressive 6.4 rebounds per game is 12th-best in the MIAC and her 1.9 steals per game ranks in the top 10. In just her first season with the Wildcats, Holt has had six double-digit scoring performances and posted her first collegiate double-double in the Wildcats' home-opener win over Crown College on Nov. 21.

Holt and the Wildcats will be in action again this week as they return home for a 7:30 p.m. matchup Wedenesday against league-leading Bethel University, before hosting Macalester College Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.
