Though the St. Catherine University hockey team didn't have quite the weekend it anticipated as it split the two-game series with Augsburg College, Bailey Rasmussen (Grand Rapids, Minn.) was able to prove that she is one of the top players in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a three-goal weekend. Therefore, she has been named the Wildcat Athlete of the Week.Â
In the Wildcats' big 4-3 win Friday night at home, Rasmussen got the Wildcats on the board twice in the second period as she scored back-to-back power play goals. The goals came with the help of Megan Killmer (Savage, Minn.) less than two minutes apart. Rasmussen's second of the game was the eventual game-winner.
Saturday, Rasmussen and Killmer connected again on a power play opportunity to give the Wildcats' their only tally in a disappointing 5-1 loss in Minneapolis to the Auggies. With her three power play goals, though, Rasmussen is now second in the MIAC in both goals (6) and is tied for first in power play goals (4). Her team-leading six points is also tied for fifth-most among all MIAC players. She also leads the league with three game-winners.Â
Rasmussen and the Wildcats will play their final series before the long holiday break against Saint Mary's University beginning Friday, Dec. 6. The Wildcats will host the Cardinals in a 7 p.m. contest at Drake Arena before traveling Saturday for a 2 p.m. game in Winona, Minn.Â
