After a spectacular season with the Wildcats in 2012-13 where she was second in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) in save percentage, Alex Hall (Burnsville, Minn.) has returned for the Wildcats in goal in 2013-14 and helped the Wildcats' pick up their first win of the year Saturday afternoon. For her performance, Hall has been named the Wildcat Athlete of the Week.Â
The Wildcats' may have dropped Friday's series opener to Uw-Eau Claire on home ice Friday, but Hall helped the Wildcats recover as she stopped 39 of 40 shots from the Blugolds Saturday in Eau Claire, Wis., to secure the team's first victory and pick up her first win of her senior campaign. She allowed just one goal on a power play opportunity with just over three minutes to play in the game.Â
Despite a less-than-ideal start for the Wildcats' in the season opener versus Marian, Hall is ranked second in the MIAC in save percentage (.922) after two weeks of play. She has also recorded 47 saves in less than 90 minutes played. With the win Saturday, Hall now has eight career wins in goal for the Wildcats.Â
Hall and the Wildcats open up MIAC play Friday evening against Hamline University at 7 p.m. at the Warner Coliseum in St. Paul, before hosting the Pipers Saturday afternoon at Drake Arena at 2 p.m.Â
