Thanks to an unusually long winter that has spanned most of April, the St. Catherine University track and field team was forced to cancel two meets in a row. But luckily, the Wildcats were able to compete at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Phil esten meet Sunday, and they made the most of it with several impressive performances. But no Wildcat stood out more than senior thrower Stephanie Meschke (Faribault, Minn.) in the javelin - earning her Wildcat Athlete of the Week honors. 

Meschke pulled in the team's top finish of the day with a throw of 35.17 meters - just off her personal best of 35.43 from a year ago - to finish first in the 33-person field. This was Meschke's first time competing this spring and proved she's picking up right where she left off a year ago. Her throw is currently the second-best so far this season in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC). 

This is Meschke's second Wildcat Athlete of the Week honor this year. She earned the award on Oct. 1, for her season best performance with the Wildcat volleyball team. 

Meschke will look to lead the Wildcats again this week as they are scheduled to complete in the Hamline University Twilight meet Wednesday beginning at 4 p.m.
