The St. Catherine University tennis team has been off to a historic start with a 12-1 overall record and 7-0 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) record so far this season. The Wildcat success has been thanks in large part to the leadership and impressive on-court play from senior Michaela Burroughs (Waterloo, Neb.), which has earned her Wildcat Athlete of the Week honors. 

This week, the Wildcats took down Concordia College in impressive fashion as they dropped just two games in both singles and doubles. Burroughs was one of four Wildcats to defeat her respective Cobber opponent in perfect 6-0,6-0 fashion in singles play. With the help of her partner Maria Koval (Green Bay, Wis.), Burroughs also picked up one of the three Wildcat 8-0 wins at the No. 2 doubles spot.

Not only was Burroughs impressive on the court this week, but she also helped the Wildcats get some well-deserved press when she was featured in a WCCO online spotlight Saturday. The feature highlights how Burroughs has been an integral part of the program's success in recent years and her impressive accomplishments off the tennis court. 

Burroughs and the Wildcat squad return to action against the University of St. Thomas Friday afternoon at the University of Minnesota. The match is scheduled for 4 p.m.
