The College of St. Catherine athletic department in is pleased to announce that Mel Gerten (Fy., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) has been named Wildcat Athlete of the Week for her performances in a two-game series against St. Olaf this past weekend. In two games against the Oles Gerten stopped 70 out of 74 shots (94.5%) in a pair of wins. With the wins the Wildcats' unbeaten streak now stands at six games. During the streak the Wildcats have moved from tenth in the MIAC up to fourth, placing themselves right in the middle of the playoff chase with four conference games remaining. The top five teams in the MIAC qualify for the playoffs and with a conference record of 6-7-1 the Wildcats are in control of their own playoff destiny with a pair of critical games coming up this weekend against conference leading Gustavus.
