The Wildcats pose after finishing third at the Division III Classic Sunday
| Final Results | Day One Recap

The St. Catherine University golf team had a good start on the opening day of the two-day Division III Classic, but knew it had the capability to be a lot better. Sunday, the Wildcats were just that – a lot better – dropping 15 strokes from Saturday to finish third in the team standings thanks to a record finish from Sydney Busker (Detroit Lakes, Minn./Detroit Lakes) at the Jewel Golf Club in Lake City, Minnesota.

The Wildcats carded a day-two score of 311 (+23) to move past Wartburg College to finish with a 36-hole team score of 637 (+61). Both scores are the second-best in program history for team 18- and 36-holes, respectively. The Wildcats' third-place finish is also their highest placing at a tournament so far this season.

Busker was impressive on her first day carding a 75 (+3), but was just as solid Sunday shooting a 77 (+5) to finish in a tie with four other players for first-place in the individual standings. Her final tally of 152 (+8) tied a St. Kate's school record for an individual 36-hole score – a record set a week ago by teammate Abby Conzemius (Chanhassen, Minn./Minnetonka).

Kaitlyn Alvarez (Eau Claire, Wis./North) recorded the lowest score on the day for the Wildcats with a career-best 74 (+2) that now ranks second all-time at St. Kate's. She dropped six strokes from the opening day to move up six spots and finish sixth overall. The sophomore finished with a personal-best 36-hole score of 154 (+10) that is now tied for third-lowest in school history.

Conzemius was the third Wildcat finisher for the weekend with a seven-stroke drop from the first day carding a 79 (+7). The junior finished with a final score of 165 (+21) to finish tied for 16th in the individual standings.

Taylor Krouse (New Prague, Minn./New Prague) had a solid improvement over day one dropping five strokes with a score of 81 (+9). She ended 23rd overal with a score of 167 (+23), while Madi Roe (Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) ended with a final score of 174 (+30) in a tie for 37th.

Carleton College captured the team title with a final score of 621 (+45) with an eight-stroke lead over University of St. Thomas in second. Wartburg's Brooke Klosterman captured medalist honors winning the first-place tiebreaker with the lowest score among those tied with a 76 (+4) Sunday.

The Wildcats will compete once more before the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Championships as they remain local next weekend competing in the College City Challenge beginning Saturday at Bellwood Oaks Golf Club in Hastings, Minnesota.
