The Wildcats got the 2010 season off on the right foot on Wednesday, defeating host Northwestern College 3-2 in the season opener.  Three different Wildcats scored in what was a total team effort and a quality first win. 

Entering his fifth season, St. Kate's soccer coach Steve Bellis has been developing one of the most dramatically improved soccer programs in the region.  After inheriting a team that finished 2-13-1, Coach Bellis' Wildcats have steadily improved their technical skills, style of play, and game knowledge to move up in the standings.  After compiling records of 5-10-3 in 2007 and 9-7-2 in 2008, the Wildcats finished the 2009 campaign at 6-9-3, in a season characterized by tough breaks, as five of their losses came in tightly contested 1-0 games.  Look for the 2010 Wildcats to take another step forward and make a run at the MIAC conference tournament. 

Head Coach Corey Phelps enters his first season with the Wildcat’s volleyball program with high expectations for the squad. After the Wildcats finished tenth in the MIAC in 2008, they vaulted to a tie for fourth place during the 2009 campaign. The 18 wins compiled by the Wildcats was the team’s highest win total in over a decade. With only three seniors graduating from that squad, the 2010 Wildcats field a roster full of MIAC-tested players.

St. Catherine University Athletic Director Eric Stacey announced that Shana Erickson has been named the Head Coach of the swimming & diving program.  Erickson will be entering her sixth season with the Wildcats program, after serving as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the past five seasons.
