Playing their best tennis of the season, the Wildcat tennis team beat host Concordia 8-1 Saturday afternoon, winning #1 and #2 doubles and sweeping the singles spots for the win. The win brings St. Kate's record to 4-4 in the MIAC (6th place) and are in good place for a conference playoff spot.
Michaela Burroughs showed great determination as she came back to win her #1 singles match 3-6, 6-3, 10-7. She teamed up with Jenna Olson to take the #1 doubles win 8-4 and Olson won at #2 singles 6-0, 6-4. Kasie Rust and Danielle Munsterman took a close 9-7 win at #2 doubles and Rust also won at #3 singles 6-2, 6-3.
Martha Ginder had an impressive comeback win at #4 singles, winning 5-7, 6-1, 10-8. Bethany Gapinski and Kalyn Schroeder took #5 and #6 singles, respectfully. Gapinski won 6-2, 6-3 and Schroeder 6-2, 6-1.
Head coach Ben Hageseth said of the win, “Everything that we have been working on really came together today. It was the best we competed all season.”
The Wildcats look to continue their winning ways when they take on St. Thomas on April 27th at 4:00 p.m.
