The Wildcat hockey team picked up another MIAC win with a 2-1 effort over Bethel University Friday night. The road win brings St. Kate’s record to 8-3 in the MIAC, 12-4 overall.
Bridget Braastad got the Wildcats on the scoreboard first, putting in a power play shot from Aryn Ball and Kayla Clafton at the 17:36 mark in the first period. Goaltender Mel Gerten turned away 8 Bethel shots to keep the score 1-0 at the end of the period.
St. Kate’s went up 2-0 in the second period after Kelsey Abrahamson scored the game winning goal with help from Kallie Geissler and Michaela Michaelson at 5:28. The Royals added a goal of their own later in the period, but it was not enough, as the Wildcats held Bethel scoreless in the third period to take the win.
Gerten faced a total of 39 shots, 19 in the second period, to take the victory.
The Wildcats take on Bethel again Saturday, February 6th, this time on their home ice, at 7:00 at Ridder Arena.
