Kris Jorgensen begins his third season as the St. Catherine diving coach in 2014-15. In his first two seasons with the Wildcats, Jorgensen has coached divers to three top-three finishes and all-conference honors at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Championships including first-year Jenna Nagy who was named the MIAC Diver-of-the-Year after winning the 1-meter title in 2014.Â
Jorgensen brings a wealth of competitive experience to the St. Kate's staff. He was a three-year letter winner at the University of Minnesota where he currently holds the school record in men's platform diving. In 2011, Jorgensen was the runner-up in platform at the Big Ten Championships before winning the title in 2012. He also was named Co-Diver of the Big Ten Championships that season. Following his graduation from Minnesota, Jorgensen also served as a volunteer assistant with both the Gopher men's and women's diving programs.Â
A native of Norway, Jorgensen won 12 national championships with the Norwegian national team from 2004-2012. As a member of the national squad, he competed twice as a World University Competitor and finished eighth in the 10-meter synchronized event at the European Championships in 2008. That same year he also placed fourth in the event at the FINA Grand Prix in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.Â
After diving for coaches from seven different countries at some of the top levels around the world, Jorgensen has developed a great knowledge of coaching. He has worked for the Minnesota Diving Academy since 2011 and also founded the Highland Diving Club of which he currently serves as CEO and a coach.Â
Jorgensen graduated from Minnesota in 2012 with a degree in psychology and a minor in coaching. He is currently pursuing his master's degree in coaching at Minnesota.Â
