Brad Marshall

The 2024-25 season will be Brad Marshall's 20th season as head coach of the St. Kate’s hockey program.

The team's best season came in 2009-2010 with a 18-5-2 overall record and 13-3-2 MIAC mark. The Wildcats finished second and just one point out of first-place – the best finish in Wildcat hockey history. Coach Marshall was named the MIAC Coach-of-the-Year and the Wildcats finished second in the conference playoffs after losing in the championship game to Gustavus Adolphus College.

During his tenure at St. Kate's, Marshall has coached 24 athletes to All-MIAC honors. He also coached Micheala Michaelson who was a 4 time All-MIAC and back-to-back Reebok All-American honors in 2010 and 2011 and Kristen Pechacek was a 2016 All-American.

Marshall came to St. Kate's after serving as the head coach of the North St. Paul High School girls hockey team for two years. During that time, Coach Marshall compiled a 48-11 record and finished as runner-up at the 2003 state tournament. Prior to that, Marshall was an assistant coach with the University of St. Thomas men’s program for two seasons. In both 2001 and 2002 his teams made it to the NCAA tournament. Marshall's other coaching experience includes stints at Mounds View and Hill-Murray High Schools. During the off-season Coach Marshall lends his coaching expertise and assistance at numerous hockey camps and clinics around the state.

Marshall played his high school hockey at Hill-Murray High School and was part of the 1991 state championship team. He began his college career at the University of St. Thomas before leaving for the United States Hockey League (USHL) Rochester Mustangs. Marshall spent the next two years playing for the Mustangs before returning to St. Thomas. In his final three seasons of collegiate hockey, Marshall was team captain, earned all-conference honors and recorded over 100 points.

The St. Thomas grad majored in Education while obtaining a coaching certificate. Brad and his wife Kerry reside in Bloomington and have two children, Charlie and Marty.
