Mark Herzog

Mark Herzog joined the St. Catherine University golf program as an assistant coach in July of 2025. Few names are more synonymous with high school girls golf in Minnesota than Mark Herzog. Over the course of 29 seasons as head coach of the Red Wing High School girls golf team, Herzog built one of the most respected and accomplished programs in the state of Minnesota.

Taking over the program in 1990, Herzog led the Wingers to their first state tournament appearance in 1998, setting the tone for a decades-long run of sustained excellence. Under his leadership, Red Wing captured:

  • 6 State Championships (2001, 2002, 2003, 2011, 2015, 2019)

  • 20 Section Titles

  • 21 Conference Championships (16 in the Missota, 5 in the Big Nine)

  • 44 State Tournament Individual Qualifiers

  • 28 Collegiate Golfers, including 12 at the Division I level

  • 9 Individual Section Champions

  • 3 Individual State Runners-up

  • 2 Miss Golf Award Winners (Stephanie Herzog, 2017; Leah Herzog, 2019)

  • 1 State Medalist (Sophia Yoemans, 2017, 2018, 2019)

The Herzog legacy is also personal. His three daughters, Brittany, Stephanie, and Leah, all played for him, with Stephanie and Leah both earning the prestigious Minnesota Miss Golf title. His sons, Patrick and Jordan, also continued the family’s golf tradition at the collegiate level.Â
