ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Cathrine University basketball team picked up a dominating MIAC win on Senior Day defeating Carleton College 91-61. The win puts St. Kate's at 11-10 on the season a conference record of 6-8.
Senior
Greta Schimnowski had a day scoring 22 points on the Knights with two boards and one assist, tying her career best seven made three pointers. Junior
Maddie Young had a 21 point night shooting 100 percent from the charity line with five assists and two rebounds.
Emme Golembiewski and
Hattie Fox each delivered 10 points while also shooting 100 percent from the FT line. Golembiewski had six boards with Fox adding in four. Senior
Maddy Manger had a career performance shooting 4-4 from the charity line after a technical foul assessed to the visiting team for a six point night with two rebounds and two assists. Fellow senior
Rachel Randleman contributed four rebounds with three assists and three steals.
The Wildcats capitalized on the Knights turnovers and fouls taking a 20-12 lead after the first quarter. Schimnowski and Young led in the second quarter each adding six points as the Knights were riddled with turnovers again giving St. Kate's a 41-25 advantage at the half.
Coming out of the half, Young, Schimnowski and Golembiewski ran the court to maintain a 22-point cushion going into the final ten minutes of the game. It was Schimnowski again in the final quarter with help from Manger who went 4 for 4 from the line. St. Kate's built a 35 points lead in the quarter but the Knights showed brief flashing of scoring to get within 30 for the 91-61 final.
St. Kate's is home again on Wednesday for their annual Play 4 Kay Cancer Awarness night hosting the College of St. Scholastica at 7 pm.
