WINONA, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University basketball team fell to the Saint Mary's University Cardinals on Wednesday evening by ten. The 73-63 defeat is the Wildcats second conference loss with a MIAC record of 0-2 while carrying an overall 3-4 resume.
Sophomore
Hattie Fox had 20 points in 33 minutes on the court with five boards and rookie
Jordyn Peed followed with ten points and four rebounds in 32 minutes played.
St. Kate's built a nine point cushion in the first quarter after going back and forth right away. The Wildcats maintained the comfortable lead going into the half up by 12 points with back to back play ups from
Lily Peper following Saint Mary's first three pointer of the game.
Things shifted in the third with the Cardinals inching back to tie the game at 53-53 with just over two minutes in the quarter. After a good free throw from
Rachel Randleman to take the lead again, Saint Mary's dropped another three pointer and held onto the lead for the rest of the game. St. Kate's was able to get within one again four minutes into the final quarter but the Wildcats were unable to stay with the Cardinals falling 73-63.
The Wildcats return to action hosting the St. Olaf College Oles on Saturday, December 7 at 3 pm.
