Paulson stepping down from cross country and track & field programs

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- St. Catherine University athletic department announced head cross country coach Cami Paulson is stepping down from her cross country and track & field coaching duties. Paulson is in her sixth season as the Wildcats head cross country coach and in her ninth year at St. Kate's. In addition to leading the cross country program, Paulson served as an assistant track & field coach working with the distance runners. Paulson is relocating to Arizona to be closer to family while continuing to work in health & wellness, education, and coaching.

In her six seasons at the helm, Paulson has coached two Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) All-Conference Cross Country selections and one All-Conference Honorable Mention honoree. In 2016, Paulson led the Wildcats to a sixth place finish at the MIAC Championships, a program-best with two student-athletes finishing within the top-25. That season, she also had two athletes earn USTFCCCA All-Region honors leading the team to a 14th place finish at the regional championships. In 2017 and 2018, the Wildcats finished 10th at the MIAC championships with current student-athlete Riley McMahon finishing 15th overall. St. Kate's has earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors in each season since Paulson arrived and they earned the departments Team GPA award in 2018 with a MIAC leading 3.81 GPA. The team earned the USTFCCCA All-Academic honor in both 2019 and 2020 as well.

"Words can't express how much coaching the wonderful young women at St. Kate's has meant to me.  I am thankful to have been a part of each and every student athletes journey", said Paulson. "I want to thank Eric Stacey for the opportunity and for the constant support and incredibly leadership.  I also want to thank Shannon Houlihan for so much during my time here at St. Kate's.  Shannon has worked tirelessly to serve not only the cross country and track and field teams but the entire department.  The entire St. Kate's athletic department is a pretty impressive group of individuals who have made the experience such a positive one over the years. I will be a Wildcat fan for life!"

Prior to arriving at St. Kate's, Paulson complied an impressive coaching resume with stints at Bowling Green and Wichita State University. Her final day at St. Catherine will be June 18.
