ST. PAUL, Minn. -- St. Catherine basketball dropped a heartbreaker to Macalester on Sunday afternoon at
Butler Center. The Wildcats fell in overtime to the Scots 73-64 on a day honoring the three seniors;
Mackenzie Dettman,
Kassidy Jenkins, and
Brooke Torvik.
St. Kate's had an 11-point lead at halftime but could not hold on through the final half as Macalester came back in the fourth quarter again to knot the game up at 60-60 after regulation. The Scots continued their scoring streak into the five minute overtime outscoring the Wildcats 13-4.
Sophomore guard
Korine Haidul had a day scoring a career-best 14 points and had two rebounds and one assist. Haidul was 2 for 3 from behind the arch and 2 for 2 from the line leading the team in points in the game.
Senior guard
Brooke Torvik put up thirteen points for St. Kate's shooting 100 percent from the free throw line. Torvik had four boards plus one steal against Macalester.
Kassidy Jenkins and
Bree Glynn each tallied a double-double on Sunday. Glynn scored ten points, with eleven rebounds and two assists while Jenkins put up ten points and ten rebounds with one assist and one steal.
St. Kate's will host St. Olaf College in the final game of the season on Wednesday, March 24 at 7 pm. As a reminder, spectators will not be permitted.
