Already off to a program-best start since 2008-09, the St. Catherine University basketball team hoped it could keep rolling as it returned home for a non-conference contest against North Central University. With significant contributions from multiple players, the Wildcats were able to come up with their fourth win of the season to remain undefeated with a 69-45 decision over the Rams Tuesday evening in the
Butler Center.
The game started off slow for both teams keeping the score close with the Wildcats up just seven points after the first quarter of play. Then, in the second quarter, the Rams started off with a 4-0 run to pull within three points to put the pressure on the Wildcats who responded with an 18-3 run to end the half with a 34-17 lead.
The Rams weren't ready to surrender, though, as they battled back to outscore the Wildcats 20-12 in the third quarter to pull within nine points with 10 minutes remaining in the game. The Wildcats responded again –this time with a 14-1 run in the first four minutes of the fourth quarter – to take a 20-point lead en route to victory.
