Sean Pinkerton

Pinkerton begins his sixth season as head coach of the St. Catherine basketball team in 2017-18. Since taking over the program, the Wildcats have had a dramatic turnaround, as they've turned into one of the top competitors in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC).

With Pinkerton at the held, St. Kate's had its most successful season in nine years in 2016-17, as the team qualified for the MIAC Playoffs for the first time since 2009-10. Since taking over the program, the Wildcats supassed the program's win total each season, both overall and in MIAC play. Additionally, St. Kate's student-athletes have broke multiple school records in the past six seasons and had two players eclipse the 1000 point mark in the last two seasons.

Pinkerton also coached LaShay Holt to the most successful basketball career in St. Kate's history. Holt was a three-time All-MIAC honoree, the conference's Sixth-Player-of-the-Year in 2015-16, and broke five school records, including career points and rebounds.

Pinkerton joined the Wildcats after serving three seasons as head coach of the Morrisville State College women’s basketball team. Prior to his arrival at Morrisville in 2009, the women’s basketball team had won two games in the previous season. Under Pinkerton’s leadership, the team quickly improved and boasted a 10-15 record in 2011-12.

Before arriving at Morrisville, Pinkerton spent the 2008-09 season as the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at State University of New York-Canton. While at SUNY-Canton, the team placed second in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC).

Pinkerton also assisted the women’s basketball program at Heidelberg University in 2006-07, where he assisted with recruiting responsibilities and headed up the junior varsity program.

Prior to coaching at the collegiate level, Pinkerton was the head girls' basketball coach at St. Lawrence Central High School in New York, from 2005-07. Pinkerton has also coached at and directed numerous basketball camps around the country and even served as a JV girls' high school soccer coach.

Pinkerton graduated from Hamilton College in Clinton, NY, in 2005 where he served as a student assistant with the women's basketball program from 2004 to 2005.
