ST. PAUL, MINN. – Prior to last weekend, thrower Megan Pohlmann (Grey Eagle, Minn. / Long Prairie-Grey Eagle) already had a stellar career with the St. Catherine University track and field team. Last Thursday, the senior capped off an impressive four years in the best way possible: with a third place, school record-breaking, All-America performance at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship in Geneva, Ohio. For that reason, Pohlmann has been named Wildcat Athlete-of-the-Week.

Pohlmann certainly made her final appearance at nationals one to remember, as she not only broke her school record but finished third in javelin to earn All-America honors for the first time in her career. The senior started the meet on a high note, as she broke her own school record with her very first throw of the competition. Pohlmann threw the spear 43.85 meters, besting the school record by 0.01 meters.

While Pohlmann didn't throw farther in either the remaining preliminary or final rounds of competition, only two individuals moved ahead of her in the overall standings. In the end, Pohlmann finished the event in third place with her throw of 43.85 meters to earn All-America honors. She was also the highest finisher from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) in the competition, having entered Thursday's competition as the No. 7 javelin thrower in the country between her two conference competitors.
