ST. PAUL, MINN. – The St. Catherine University track and field student-athletes had one last chance to trim their times before the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Outdoor Championship. Fortunately, several student-athletes put together personal record (PR) and season best performances with six days remaining before the conference meet.
Jackie Brine-Doyle (Merrifield, Minn. / Pequot Lakes) put together an outstanding performance in the 3000 meter steeplechase, shaving 15 seconds off her previous career best time to finish with a PR of 12:15.91. That time allowed her to finish fifth in the race and is fifth all-time in St. Kate's history.
Michelle Perri (Plymouth, Minn. / Osseo) also had a career day on the track in the 800 meter run. The junior recorded a PR time of 2:30.29, six seconds faster than her previous career best, to finish in 18
th place over all.
Two sprinters,
Sydia Reeves (Vadnais Heights, Minn. / North St. Paul) and
Ici Kelley, both raced in the 100 and 200 meter dashes Saturday afternoon. Reeves clocked a time of 13.91 in the 100 and 28.40 in the 200. Kelley also impressed by running the 100 in 14.87 seconds and the 200 in 30.44.
Kanani Asuncion (Rochester, Minn. / Century) jumped 4.48 meters in the long jump competition, and was the Wildcats lone field athlete to compete Saturday.
St. Kate's will return to action next week, when it competes at the MIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships Friday and Saturday. More information about the meet will be available early next week.
