Wildcats collect several PRs at Macalester Janis Rider Invite

Results 

After multiple record-breaking meet performances to start the outdoor season, the St. Catherine University track and field continued to turn in top perforamnces across the board as several Wildcat collected personal record (PR) marks and times Saturday at the Macalester College Janis Rider Invitational in St. Paul. 

The distance crew led the way for the Wildcats with PRs from multiple athletes in a handful of events. In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, senior Jenna McElroy (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park) compiled a solid effort in her first appearance in the event this season with a second-place time of 11:46.00 that was just off her PR. Shannon Strickland (Rochester, Minn./Lourdes) also had a PR time of 12:50.01 to move up to No. 5 all-time at St. Kate's. 

Courtney Kirkeide (Greenbush, Minn./Greenbush-Middle River) had two major PRs with a solid effort in the 1,500-meter run clocking in at 5:03. 78. The sophomore also had a PR in the javelin with a mark of 26.01 meters (85-4), while Megan Pohlmann (Grey Eagle, Minn./Long Prairie-Grey Eagle) was fourth in javelin with a mark of 30.85 (101-02). 

Other notable PRs in the distance events came from Rachel Hall (Mendota Heights, Minn.) and Michelle Perri (Plymouth, Minn./Osseo) who crossed the line in the 3,000-meter run at 11:26.02 and 12:22.06, respectively. 

The sprints also had another strong outing with Shakeela Wells-Johnson (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) leading the way with a first-place in the 100-meter dash clockingthe day's top time of 12.57.

Brittany Moore (Maplewood, Minn./North St. Paul) placed fifth in the 100-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 16.00. She also finished fifth in the long jump with a new PR mark of 4.89 (16-0.5) that now ranks No. 7 all-time at St. Kate's. 

Megan Thoemke (White Bear Lake, Minn./Mahtomedi) also had two strong finishes with a PR in the 200-meter dash crossing the finish in 28.12. The first-year was also just off her PR in the 400-meter dash with a time of 62.15. 

Also in the 400-meter race, Emily Hohenshell (Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View) debuted with a time of 1:07.28, while Jenna Thompson (Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo) had a PR time of 1:08.28. 

The Wildcats will compete in their second weeknight meet of the season Wednesday at the University of St. Thomas Tommie Twilight. Events are scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. in St. Paul.
