Another bought of cold, winter weather may have postponed other outdoor events this week, but the St. Catherine University track and field team was ready to battle through the tough conditions in order to get another set of solid performances in before the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Championships begin in just a few weeks. And a handful of Wildcats turned in several impressive times and marks on a cold afternoon at the St. Olaf College Manitou Classic Wednesday in Northfield, Minn.

The Wildcats took top marks in several track events with Brittany Moore (Maplewood, Minn.) leading the way for the sprinters. The sophomore won the 100-meter hurdles with a season-best finals time of 16.43. In the prelims, Shakeela Wells-Johnson (St. Paul, Minn.) and Ashleigh Ackley (Gilby, N.D.) each turning in personal record (PR) times. Wells-Johnson clocked the fastest time of the day at 15.92, while Ackley finished in 17.40. Wells-Johnson also placed second in the 200-meter dash.

In the distance events, Jenna McElroy (Champlin, Minn.) broke the 12-minute mark to finish second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Her time of 11:45.40 remains the second-fastest time in program history, while Kristina Poss (Shoeview, Minn.) also held her No. 3 all-time spot with a PR time of 12:04.09.

The throwers also continued to shine for the Wildcats with Jorden Priebe (Indianola, Iowa) turning in another strong performance to lead the team in the hammer throw. Priebe's mark of 44.89 meters was good enough for second in the event and is just off her season-best and PR. Ashton Clevenger (Fredericktown, Ohio) also had a solid day with a new PR mark of 40.11 meters. Christina Ramsdell (St. Cloud, Minn.) placed fourth, while Megan Pohlmann (Grey Eagle, Minn.) had a PR.

In the javelin, the Wildcats had three PR performances with Dani Breault (Anoka, Minn.) placing third in the event with a mark of 30.27 meters. Breault's mark is now No. 10 all-time surpassing Wildcat Hall of Famer Anne Sikorra. Jerika Decker (Buffalo, Minn.) also had a PR mark of 27.09, as did Courtney Kirkeide (Greenbush, Minn.).

Sarah Manning (Page, Ariz.) had another strong day in the high jump as she placed second with a mark of 1.53 meter, while Makayla Skluzacek (Le Sueur, Minn.) cleared a height of 1.48 meters for a season-best. The junior also had a PR in the long jump (4.60 meters). Laura Crepeau (Elk River, Minn.) also had a PR in the pole vault clearing a height of 2.60 meters.

The Wildcats will take some time off before competing next at the Macalester College Janis Rider Invitational on Saturday, April 26 at 9 a.m. in St. Paul.
