All season, the St. Catherine University track and field team has seen its sprinters lead the way with several record-setting performances and multiple school top-10 times. And in the team's final meet before the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Indoor Championships next weekend, the story was no different as Brittany Moore (Maplewood, Minn.) set a new school record in the 60-meter hurdles to lead the Wildcats Friday evening at the Macalester College Pre-MIAC Meet in St. Paul, Minn.

The sophomore ran the second-fastest time in the prelim heat to set the new schoool record and qualify for the finals. Her time of 9.31 was a tenth of a second faster than Sarah Meissner's previous record time of 9.41 from 2007. Moore then ran a 9.34 in the finals to finish second in the event.

Shakeela Wells-Johnson (St. Paul, Minn.) also had a strong performance in the 60-meter hurdles with a third-place finish in the finals. Her prelim time of 9.41 was good enough to tie Meissner's previous record which now ranks No. 2 all-time at St. Kate's.

The Wildcats' distance group has also been strong all season and Friday was no different with Kristina Poss (Shoreview, Minn.) leading the way. The senior turned in a personal record (PR) time of 10:53.43 to win the 3,000-meter run, while Jenna McElroy (Champlin, Minn.) finished fifth with a PR time of 11:03.37. Poss dropped nearly 13 seconds from her previous best for the third fastest time in St. Kate's history, while McElroy dropped 11 seconds for her No. 5 time on the top-10 list.

In mid-distance, Courtney Kirkeide (Greenbush, Minn.) raced to a third-place finish in the 1,000-meter run with a PR time of 3:15.11. Her time now ranks No. 7 all-time at St. Kate's, while Shannon Strickland (Rochester, Minn.) cracked into the top-10 with a PR time of 3:17.26.

In the field events, Ashton Clevenger (Fredericktown, Ohio) continued her outstanding rookie season with another PR mark in the weight throw. Her toss of 12.94 meters. Her throw betters her previous best 12.68 meters and now pushes her up to No. 5 all-time on the top-10 list.

First-year Abigail Palmer (Pequot Lakes, Minn.) made her collegiate debut in the triple jump and finished third in the event. Her best jump of 9.95 meters already ranks No. 4 all-time at St. Kate's. In the high jump, Sarah Manning (Page, Ariz.) made her debut with a mark of 1.52 meters to finish fourth, while Makayla Skluzacek (Le Sueur, Minn.) had a season-best jump of 1.47 meters to finish sixth. Skluzacek also had a PR in the 60-meter hurdles.

Jenna Thompson (Maple Grove, Minn.) ran a PR in the 800-meter run, while Jerika Decker (Buffalo, Minn.) and Megan Pohlmann (Grey Eagle, Minn.) made their collegiate debuts in the shot put with PR performances.

The Wildcats will compete next weekend in the MIAC Championships hosted by Saint John's University in Collegeville, Minn. Pentathlon events will be held Thursday, with field and track events spanning Friday and Saturday.
