After an impressive showing last weekend at the Bethel University Classic, the St. Catherine University track and field team looked to continue building on its success with the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Indoor Championships just three weeks away. Thanks to four more top-10 St. Catherine performances, the Wildcats finished with a strong outing Saturday afternoon at the College of Saint Benedict Triangular at Saint John's University in Collegeville, Minn.

The highlight of the day was an impressive 13:29.07 Distance Medley Relay time from Courtney Kirkeide (Greenbush, Minn.) in the 1,200-meter,  Shannon Strickland (Rochester, Minn.) in the 800-meter portion, Morgan Vlakancic (Pleasant Hill, Calif.) in the 400-meter and Jenna McElroy (Champlin, Minn.) in the mile. Their time now ranks No. 6 all-time at St. Kate's.

The reigning MIAC Track Athlete-of-the-Week Shakeela Wells-Johnson (St. Paul, Minn.) continued to make her mark on the program as she won the 60-meter dash for the third time this season and second time in as many weeks. She also ran 62.55 in her collegiate debut in the 400-meter dash to finish third in the event.

The Wildcats had a stacked field in the 1,000-meter dash with first-year Shannon Strickland (Rochester, Minn.) leading the way. Strickland's time of 3:17.53 ranks No. 9 all-time and was good enough for a sixth place finish. McElroy and Kristina Poss (Shoreview, Minn.) placed seventh and eighth, respectively in their first time running the indoor event.

In throws, the Wildcats had four PR performances in two different events. Jorden Priebe (Indianola, Iowa) finished third in the weight throw with a toss of 12.90 meters which ranks No. 5 all-time. Ashton Clevenger (Fredericktown, Ohio) was just behind her in fourth with another PR throw of 12.68 which ranks No. 9 at St. Kate's.

Dani Breault (Anoka, Minn.) was fourth in the shot put with PR throw of 8.92 meters, while Makayla Skluzacek (Le Sueur, Minn.) followed with a PR toss of 8.15 meters.

Ashleigh Ackley (Gilby, N.D.) continued to turn in PR with a 8.83 in the 60-meter dash and a 30.20 in the 200-meter dash.

The Wildcats return to action again next week at the University of Minnesota Parents' Day Open. Events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. in Minneapolis.
