The Wildcats came out firing Saturday afternoon, leading by as much as seven points in the first half. That lead slowly dwindled until 5:45 left in the half when the Oles took the lead. The Wildcats rallied, but their second half comeback fell just short.
At the halftime buzzer, the score was 24-30 St. Olaf.
The second half would be hard fought by both sides with St. Kate's battling back to take the lead 46-45 at 11:53 on a
Quinn Halverson 3-pointer.
Three and a half minutes later St. Olaf would regain the lead, but once again St. Kate's fought back. The Wildcats three team captains all scored in quick succession to even the score at 56 with 4:28 left in the game.
The Oles then rebuilt a six point lead, this time the Wildcats response came up just short. St. Kate's finished with a flury to try and force overtime. After a
Laura Kalbfell 3-pointer, SCU got a steal from Halverson. However, her desperation three-point attempt at the buzzer didn't find the mark, and the Wildcats suffered another tough loss.
The Wildcats were led by
Laura Kalbfell who had a game high 25 points and 7 rebounds, in only 29 minutes of play.
Sonja Ellingson put up double digit points for SCU as well with 12 points.
St. Kate's is back on the court Monday night at the
Butler Center when they take on St. Mary's at 7:00 p.m.
