On a wet and chilly Wednesday afternoon the Wildcats and Cobbers squared off on St. Kate's field in a tightly contested game. Concordia's Elizabeth Robinson scored the lone goal midway through the first period, as the teams' defenses and goalkeepers ruled the afternoon. Concordia moves to 4-1-2 in MIAC play and into a tie for second, while the Wildcats are still seeking their first conference win.
Robinson's goal off a free kick from Kelsey Swagger put the Cobbers up 1-0 in the first half, as they outshot the Wildcats 13-1. Keeper
Abbey Hinton made several spectacular saves to keep the Wildcats in the game and they turned things around in the second half. The Wildcats had 7 shots in the second period, while Concordia had 9. With players sliding around in the slippery conditions and the game so close, the game began to get physical, as seen by Concordia's 11 fouls and four by the Wildcats.
Both goalies were the anchors of stout defenses, with Ali Nelson collecting the shutout with six saves and Hinton making nine saves alltogether.
The Wildcats travel to Winona this weekend to take on St. Mary's at 1 pm.
